95 Shore A Vulkollan Wheels

Vulkollan® polyurethane wheels deliver the mechanical precision, durability, and load capacity required for mission-critical roles from driverless transport systems (DTS) to high-speed conveyor lines.

Polyurethane wheels with bearings

Core Tread & Mechanical Design

Vulkollan wheels with integrated bearings are designed to deliver consistent performance in demanding environments, with key specifications that set them apart:

1. Tread Design & Aesthetics

Hardness: 95 Shore A—optimized for heavy loads while maintaining elasticity to absorb shocks and reduce vibration. This hardness rating ensures minimal rolling resistance without sacrificing traction, critical for automated systems requiring precise speed control.

Color & Finish: Natural is the standard option, chosen for its non-marking, non-staining properties—ideal for clean environments like food processing plants, electronics manufacturing, or pharmaceutical facilities where floor contamination is a risk.

UV Stability Note: While Vulkollan excels in most conditions, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight (UV radiation) may cause subtle color fading over time. For outdoor applications, we recommend UV-stabilized formulations or protective shielding to preserve appearance and performance.

2. Bearing Integration: Seamless Motion & Durability

Polyurethane wheels with bearings combine Vulkollan elastomeric advantages with precision-engineered bearing systems, enabling:

Smooth, Low-Friction Rotation: The low coefficient of friction (0.15–0.20 on steel) reduces energy consumption by 15–20% compared to unbearing wheels, critical for battery-powered AGVs or high-speed conveyors.

Long Service Life: Bearings are sealed to prevent contamination (dust, moisture) and paired with Vulkollan’s high fatigue strength, ensuring minimal deformation even after 10,000+ hours of continuous operation.

Easy Installation: Pre-assembled bearing wheels simplify equipment design and maintenance, reducing downtime during replacement.

3. Chemical Resistance: Know the Boundaries

Vulkollan’s robust chemical resistance makes it suitable for most industrial environments, with a few key exceptions:

Resistant To: Oils, greases, petroleum products, solvents, and most industrial chemicals—ideal for automotive manufacturing, metalworking, or chemical processing.

Not Resistant To: Hot water, high-humidity ai—these conditions can cause hydrolysis over time. Additionally, Vulkollan is vulnerable to hydrolysis and microbial growth in prolonged wet environments, so we recommend alternative materials for such applications.

Glycol Compatibility: Minimal swelling in glycol-based coolants or hydraulic fluids, making it safe for use in machinery with fluid handling systems.
